High Five: Sure Things turns five on Palisade Avenue, Oct 24–25. Artwork by Sure Things.
Five Years, Slowly But Surely
Go: Sure Things celebrates five years this weekend, Sat & Sun, Oct 24–25, at 561 Palisade Avenue in the Heights. New things hitting the floor, free gifts with purchase, surprise deals, and maybe cake. Details here.
Pop-ups: Saturday brings The Glean Edit (vintage clothing on the sidewalk rack) and Mia Mad Jewelry. Sunday is Bystanders Vintage and Weekend Material (trays of vintage rings and bangles). Four friends of the shop, two days. Source: @surethingsfintage on Instagram.
Story: Marinell and John saw a FOR RENT sign on a former thrift shop in August 2021, got the keys, repainted the walls twice (cool white, then warm white), and opened to friends and family about six weeks later with barely any inventory. A year later they put everything the first year made into a custom wall unit. In 2024 the Home Depot shelves gave way to bookcases salvaged from a school. Open the spread for the pictures, in Marinell's words. Source: @surethingsfintage on Instagram.
Shop: Vintage objects and used books, which they call fintage: found and vintage. Ceramics, art books, candle holders, the occasional chair you'll want to take home. Source: Hoboken Girl, "Sure Things" (2021).
Follow: @surethingsfintage. Much love, M+J.
We wouldn't be here without your support, so let's celebrate five years of Sure Things!
